Markers and 100,000-year journey by Xavier Cortada. headlines a major art exhibition that takes an up close and personal look at the ramifications of global climate change. Polar Identity, curated by Danielle Siembieda, opened at WORKS gallery in San Jose as part of a maturing South First Fridays gallery crawl. I am particularly proud of this exhibition, a product of graduate students at CADRE Laboratory and co-sponsored by CADRE and ZER01. Was terrific to meet and greet the attending artists and all of those who helped realize this project which presents a provocative view of the dynamics in a rapidly changing environment. A crowd of nearly 1000 attended the opening, a virtual who’s who of the South Bay art scene. Truly international in scope the exhibition includes Andrea Poli, Xavier Cortada, Jerome Gueneau, Catherine Rannou, Phil Boissonnet, Andrea Juan, and Erika Blumenfeld, and was juried by Hasan Elahi, Annick Bureaud and Robin Lasser.
