ZER01 partners seeking ideas from artist-lead teams to create “Climate Clock”

The Climate Clock is a multi-year endeavor that will culminate with the production of a major art installation that measures and tracks climate change. The Climate Clock Initiative is a collaboration between FUSE: CADRE/Montalvo Arts Center Artist Research Residency Initiative, 1stACT and the City of San Jose Public Art program in cooperation with ZER01. All organizations are in the preliminary stages of executing this project, which will be installed in downtown San Jose.

A colloquium for experts who will help shape the project is planned for June 9 and 10 following 01SJ in downtown San Jose. The colloquium is by invitation only, but plans are underway to make proceedings open to the public via a streaming web presence. Also, a call for artists’ ideas has been released. Please read the call at http://www.sanjoseculture.org/downloads/SJClimateClock_RFP.pdf.

Fundraising is also underway. We welcome your support. Please e-mail all inquiries to climateclock@sanjoseca.gov. More information will be made available to the general public in the near future. Stay tuned!
